In desktop Chrome, open the bookmark manager and use its export option to create an HTML file. Before transferring it, check a few folders and addresses. This file carries bookmark references; it should not be treated as a complete copy of your account or web pages.
1. Check which profile you are exporting
Open Chrome in the profile containing the bookmarks you need. Personal and work profiles may have different collections. Visit the manager and check a familiar folder before creating the file.
Choose a name identifying the source and date, such as “work-bookmarks-2026-10-02.html”. This helps distinguish versions during transfer. Keep the file somewhere you can find it again.
2. Create the file through the manager
Chrome's documented desktop workflow uses the bookmark manager. Menu names can vary by language and version; consult the official help below if your interface differs.
- Open Chrome's three-dot menu.
- Go to Bookmarks and lists → Bookmark Manager.
- In the manager's menu, choose Export Bookmarks.
- Choose where to save the HTML file.
3. Open the HTML and inspect a sample
Open the local file in your browser and look for a folder and two or three familiar titles. Inspect their addresses without visiting every site. If the expected collection is missing, return to the source profile before importing.
A bookmarks file can reveal research topics, internal paths, or private addresses. Do not publish your real file to ask for help. The public example below uses open documentation only and does not represent a customer's library.
4. Preserve the original and check the destination
Keep the original HTML until you have checked the transfer. An export is a snapshot: future bookmarks are not added automatically. Exporting also does not remove bookmarks from the source.
Bookmark HTML is not a copy of web pages, passwords, history, or your entire account. If you are moving to Mneeemo, follow the import tutorial to understand folders, duplicates, and limits before sending a large collection.
An export is ready for transfer once you recognize its source and have checked what it contains.
Questions you might have
Does exporting delete my Chrome bookmarks?
It creates a transfer file. There is no need to delete the original collection; keep it until you have checked the destination.
Does the HTML include every website's full content?
No. It contains bookmark references, not complete copies of visited content. Websites can change or become unavailable.
Must I send someone the file to check it?
You can inspect a sample locally. Avoid sharing a private collection; use a demonstration file to discuss the format.
